 In the spring of 2012 a crowd of 322 seniors converged on Harrison to participate in the Northwest Arkansas Senior Games’ track, field and fun events. The Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas sponsors the event each year and has announced the dates for the 2013 games. The 29th annual senior games will kick off with the women's 8-ball pool competition on Friday, April 12, and the men's 8-ball pool competition on Friday April 19, at the Newton County Senior Activity and Wellness Center at 100 E. Clark Street in Jasper, Arkansas followed by the bowling competition on Thursday, April 25 at Cottonwood Bowl in Harrison.  The big track, field and fun event day will be held at a new location for 2013. On Thursday, May 2, 2013 track and field events will be at the F.S. Garrison Stadium and Cash Center at the Harrison Senior High School at 1754 Burlsway in Harrison.  Archery will be at the City Park in Bull Shoals, Arkansas on Saturday, May 11, 2013. 

The competitions will include events for the serious competitor as well as a host of recreational and fun games including: a wide variety of walks, dashes, and runs, even a 3K run; shot put, running long jump, javelin, and standing long jump; dominoes, horseshoes, baggo, daisy air gun, softball throw, stationary cycling, basketball shoot, spin casting, football throw, nail pounding, Skip-Bo, and a balloon bust relay. The competitions are divided into age groups. Medals and ribbons will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place depending on the event.

Over the past few years, a number of corporations and businesses have become partners, providing financial support for senior services through their Northwest Arkansas Senior Games sponsorship. 
 
The games are open to people age 50 and older and pre-registration is required. The registration deadline for the 8-ball pool tournament will be March 30, 2013. For all other events the registration deadline is April 12, 2013.
